"Finally," she sighed, retrieving the mail. The weight of the envelopes felt insignificant in her hand. She flipped through the stack, discarding advertisements with a flick of her wrist. There, nestled amongst the bills, was a single, anonymous card. A small chuckle escaped her.

She returned inside, shedding her shoes. The cool tile floor was a welcome sensation against her bare feet. She felt like she could spend all day doing nothing, just breathing in the aroma of the lavender bushes outside. She settled onto the sofa, the soft cushions enveloping her. The world was utterly, completely right.
